Himmatnagar based Asian tiles recently started using gas generated from its gasifier plant.  The gas generated from gasifier is known as coal gas.

Originally the company was permitted to use only Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for manufacturing ceramic tiles and vitrified tiles at it’s Himmatnagar based factory.

But the in order to cut costs recently Asian tiles (AGL) erected gasifier plant and started using the coal gas generated from it. Hence Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) raided the company. They found that the production at Asian tiles (AGL) was done using gasifier and hence given notice to shut down the production for 15 days with immediate effect.

The coal gas is a known to release phenol which is pollutant in nature.
