Hit by the global economic turmoil, over 100 Roofing Tile manufacturing units in and around Morbi are now facing a shortage of quality fuel, which is supplied by the state government for running the factories. Rajkot Manufacturers claim that they are getting lignite of deprived quality at much elevated rates from government.

Mosaic Tiles units seek VAT exemption

The Mosaic Tiles Association of Morbi has sought exemption from Value Added Tax (VAT). In a letter to the chief minister, the association has said that while the government has relaxed CENVAT and lowered petrol-diesel prices to provide succor to the industrial sector in general, the floor tiles sector has not been considered for sops.
